Students’ Association of IMK, House of Prospective Executives (HOPE), is conducting an Annual Management Fest- MANIA 2k10 on December 15 & 16, 2010 at Priyadarshini Planetarium,Trivandrum.

Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK) was established under the tutelage of the University of Kerala in the year 1991. The institute located in Senate Campus has been rated as the 3rd Best B-School in Kerala (CSR,Oct 2010), 7th best University B-Schools in India, and the 27th among all B-schools in India (CSR, November 2009). IMK Senate Campus has been given “A” rating by Business India, October 2009 and has been rated at A3 position among Indian B-schools by Indian Management, November 2009.

MANIA, an acronym for “Managers in Action” is the Annual Management Meet organized by the students of IMK. It is one of the best organized Management events in South India. It had been serving as an acid test for the talents of management novices since 1994. It is a common platform to run a wild race which would test the skills and expertise in management as well as expose the participants to a plethora of new opportunities.

MANIA 2k10 brings the best brains together to celebrate the spirit of innovation and revel in the joy of togetherness as we meet and greet the corporate leaders and management students from across South India. The theme for this year’s MANIA is “Green” inspiring the community to protect the environment and strive towards sustainable development. We are organizing Sapling Distribution as a part of promotion of the theme.

The process of admission is as follows.

1. The candidates are required to appear for the MBA Entrance Test of the
University in the last week of May 2010 at any of the following Centres:
(1) Thiruvananthapuram
(2) Kollam
(3) Alappuzha
(4) Thrissur
(5) Adoor
(6) Kannur
Note: The University reserves the right to cancel any centre if there are no
adequate numbers of candidates appearing at the centre.

2. Based on the performance in the Entrance Test, the candidates are invited to
participate in the Group Discussion and Interview to be held at the third week of
June 2010.

3. Rank list for admission to the MBA programme will be finalized on the basis of
the score obtained in the Entrance Test (70% weightage), Group Discussion
(15% weightage) and Interview (15 % weightage) which will be published in the
first/second week of July 2010.

4. The counseling for admission will be during the third week of July 2010 and the
following procedure will be undertaken:

a. First 20 seats of Merit category and the next 20 seats in
reservation category will be completed for IMK ,Palayam
department
b. Next 20 seats of Merit category and the subsequent 20 seats in
reservation category will be completed for MBA (Tourism) at
IMK, Palayam department.
c. Next 200 seats of Merit category and the subsequent 200 seats in
reservation category will be completed for Extension centres.
d. In the case of absence of SC/ST candidates, the same will be
filled by OEC and subsequently by OBC candidates and finally
by Open candidates.
e. The candidates will be given the option of choosing the Centre
only according to their merit in the Provisional Ranklist.
f. The transfer of centre once admitted will not be permitted.
g. Fee once remitted will not be refunded.


Eligibility for admission

Any student who has passed degree from any Indian Universities under the
regular stream recognised by the University of Kerala and shall be in 10+2+3 pattern
(or in 10+2+4). In all the cases the student should have passed the degree
examination with not less than 50% marks in Part III marks (without approximation,
that is 49.999% is not eligible since it is less than 50%) in BA, B.Sc, B.Com etc., and
50% marks in aggregate in case of B.Tech, B.Sc (Agri) and other 4/5 year degree
courses is eligible for admission. SC/ST candidates shall be given relaxation as per
University rules. Candidates passed degree or Masters Degree of other Universities
should produce the Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Kerala (Course
Equivalency Certificate) at the time of admission. In case if the candidate fails to
produce the certificates on or before 31.08.2010, the provisional admission will be
cancelled.

The filled in application form should accompany the D.D./Chalan of Rs.510/-
for application fee and also the copies of Income Certificate or B.P.L. Certificate and
Community Certificate issued by the Competent Authority. The reservation for SC
candidates is 15% and that of ST candidates it is 5%. In the case of candidates
belonging to Backward classes they are eligible for 20% reservation as per G.O (M.S)
No.107/08/H.Edn dated 20.09.2008 (Ezhava – 8%, Muslim – 7%, LC/SIUC-1%,
OBC Christian – 1%, OBC Hindu – 3%) and in the case of candidates belonging to
Forward Communities the 7.5% reservation as per G.O. (M.S)No.108/2008/H.Edn
dated 20.09.2008 who have to submit copy of the B.P.L. certificate issued by the
Village Officer or competent authority.

The last date of issue of application is 15.05.2010. Duly filled in application
along with DD/chalan for Rs.510 in favour of Finance officer, University of Kerala
from SBI or SBT or District Cooperative Bank and the name and address of the
candidate and the purpose of the DD should be indicated on the back of the DD
should reach the Head, Institute of Management in Kerala, University of Kerala,
Palayam Campus, Thiruvananthapuram-695 034 on or before 15.05.2010 by 5pm.
